Lyn Condon
Lyn Condon is a well-known local painter and calligrapher. Lyn began to draw as soon as she could pick up a pencil and at a very young age she was winning awards for her art. She later studied at Brisbane Technical College, now QUT. Lyn has held exhibitions in the Gold Coast City Art Gallery and on Tamborine Mountain.
Lyn's painting is characterised by beautiful brushwork and vibrant colour. Oils, watercolours, acrylics, gouache and gold leaf are the media she uses in her paintings, which range in size from the tiny calligraphic masterpieces to murals. However, Lyn’s passion is calligraphy and her miniature calligraphic work is exquisite.
Her calligraphy is in the style of the illuminated manuscripts with delicate gold leaf decorating the capital letters. She has been a member of the prestigious Hilliard Society, England and The Society of Limners, Miniaturist and Calligraphers, England and The Cider Painters of America; and has exhibited and sold her artwork overseas, where she has also won many awards.
Having lived in Beaudesert for over 40 years, she was drawn to the Scenic Rim area because of the beautiful and diverse landscapes, which can be recognised in many of her paintings. Lyn has also traveled extensively throughout Australia. In the Northern Territory she was resident artist, painting murals at Wycliffe Well Roadhouse, and later at the Riverview Caravan Park in Katherine, where passing travellers can still see her large-scale works.
Lyn shares her love of art with her daughter Christine Parry and they meet every week for their painting day together. Lyn also holds weekly art classes at her home. Whatever you want to paint, she will teach you!
